RB Dereli and Philippe Briand collaborated in 2004 to create MUMU as a yacht purpose-built for extended Mediterranean crossings and multi-week island-hopping adventures where wind patterns and protected anchorages dictate the rhythm of travel. Her 38.74-meter hull cuts efficiently through the variable conditions found between the Balearics and Greek islands, while her substantial beam provides the stability essential for comfortable passage-making across open water stretches like the crossing from Sardinia to the French Riviera. Act Studio Design configured her interior spaces to support the longer charter periods that sailing itineraries naturally require, creating environments where guests settle into the unhurried pace of wind-powered travel. The five-person crew manages her sail plan and navigation demands while maintaining service standards across journeys that might span ten days moving through the Cyclades or two weeks exploring the Turkish coast from Bodrum to Kas. MUMU's design prioritizes the practical requirements of extended cruising over flashier amenities, reflecting the reality that successful sailing charters depend more on weather routing expertise and mechanical reliability than pure luxury appointments. Her 172 gross tons provide generous storage for the provisions and equipment necessary when anchorages might be days apart, while her dimensions allow access to the smaller harbors and protected coves that define the most compelling sailing destinations. Eight guests discover that sailing charter rhythms differ fundamentally from motor yacht experiences, with daily distances determined by wind conditions rather than fuel consumption, and with the most memorable moments often occurring during the passages themselves rather than only at destinations.
