The GOC course, exam and revalidation

GMDSS-GOC-M5 · Certification · GMDSS-GOC-M5-A The GOC course and exam, MCA issue, STCW endorsement and revalidation.

The GOC is the radio certificate yacht officers actually need: **MSN 1858 A2 requires it for OOW (Yachts) <3000 GT** and above. Since **May 2025** the MCA issues it directly, and its **STCW endorsement** must be **revalidated every five years**, ideally alongside your CoC.

Independent study. xplor is not an accredited training provider and awards no certificate or Certificate of Competency. The GOC is issued by the MCA only after an MCA-approved GMDSS course and examination at an approved centre, and needs an MCA STCW endorsement for service on UK ships.
