Cabrera National Park
Governing: CAIB authorisation and fee page for the Parque Nacional Marítimo-Terrestre del Archipiélago de Cabrera; MITECO/OAPN visitor rules. Builds on: L4.2.
Permits before you go
To navigate, anchor or dive in the park you need an authorisation, applied for online through the park's reservations centre. There are two things to sort out:
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Navigation permit | Free, valid 12 months |
| Buoy booking (to stay/moor) | Paid per day; maximum 50 boats a day |
| Maximum stay | 2 nights in July and August, 7 nights the rest of the year |
| Occupancy | From 18:00 on the first day to 17:00 on the last day |
| Cancellation | More than 1 hour before the start: 50 % refund; otherwise none |
| Diving | Separate authorisation |
Park telephone numbers published on the CAIB page: buoy bookings 971 656 282; park office 971 17 76 41.
Buoy fees (euros per day)
| Buoy | Length | 1 Oct – 30 Apr | 1 May – 30 Sep |
|---|---|---|---|
| White | ≤ 12 m | 9.30 | 18.60 |
| Yellow | > 12 m to 15 m | 20.00 | 40.00 |
| Orange | > 15 m to 20 m | 35.00 | 90.00 |
| Red | > 20 m to 35 m | 105.00 | 275.00 |
- If you book a buoy for a larger class than your length, you pay the larger class's rate.
- Over 35 m: only by special authorisation, justified in advance, at the red-buoy rate.
Worked check (illustrative): a 20.0 m yacht is in the orange class (up to 20 m), €90 a day in June. At 20.5 m it moves to red, €275 a day. A 13 m yacht in May pays yellow, €40; cancel two days ahead and you get €20 back.
Count nights and days carefully: the fee is per day and occupancy runs 18:00 to 17:00. Check how the booking system counts a one-night stay before you quote a cost to the owner.
Rules in the park
From the ministry's visitor rules:
- All recreational fishing and spearfishing is prohibited inside the park.
- Landing is prohibited except at the main quay of Cabrera port, and access ashore must be by tender. Yachts may not moor alongside the main quay.
- There are no bins on Cabrera: take all rubbish back to Mallorca.
- Weather changes quickly; there is no accommodation ashore and only a canteen selling drinks.
WARNING — No buoy, no stay The daily cap is 50 boats. In high season, arriving without a booking means leaving. Do not "wait on the anchor" somewhere in the park; anchoring requires the authorisation too.
Commercial operators
A March 2026 press report (secondary) says the regional high court upheld limits on commercial visitor numbers to the park (300 visitors a day, 80 per boat). Whether a charter yacht carrying guests needs anything beyond the navigation permit and buoy booking was not confirmed in this research. Charter skippers should ask the park before the first trip of the season.
TIP — Early, and in writing Put the permit and booking on the pre-departure checklist and keep both on board. The park staff and the patrol boats will ask.
