Natural parks
Governing: Ley 2/2017 (BOE-A-2017-10493); Decreto 27/2023, PORN of Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos (BOIB 59, 9 May 2023), arts. 76–80; PRUG of Ses Salines (Decreto 132/2005) via the CAIB buoy-field page. Builds on: L4.1, L5.2.
Es Trenc – Salobrar de Campos (south Mallorca)
Declared a land-and-sea natural park by Ley 2/2017. Until its natural resources plan (PORN) was approved, the law applied the Cabrera Natura 2000 plan's anchoring rules provisionally (transitional provision 4). The PORN was approved by Decreto 27/2023 (BOIB 59, 9 May 2023). It covers about 3,780 ha, of which about 2,338 ha are sea, and notes roughly 40 ha of Posidonia in the marine area.
The PORN's marine articles (read from the BOIB PDF) matter directly to yachts:
| Art. | Rule |
|---|---|
| 78.1 | Anchoring on Posidonia prohibited, in line with Decreto 25/2018 |
| 78.2 | The park may buoy off areas where anchoring is banned for restoration |
| 78.3 | Anchoring also prohibited on Cymodocea nodosa, Zostera, maërl and coralligenous bottoms |
| 76.4.a | No fast motorised craft such as ski-bus or water-skiing |
| 76.4.b | No jet skis or similar motorised or towed toys (skis, parasails, towed inflatables, underwater scooters and propulsion devices), except rescue and patrol services |
| 76.4.c | No landing or launching of motor boats, except rescue and patrol services |
| 76.4.d | No party boats |
| 76.4.e–f | No fish feeding; no landing on the islets |
| 79 | Bathing zones: RD 876/2014 art. 73 applies; the bathing-zone buoy line must be not less than 200 m from the beach and 50 m from islets |
| 80.1 | Non-motorised sail and paddle sports allowed outside the bathing zone |
Spearfishing is also banned in the park's marine area (CAIB reserves page).
WARNING — The toy locker At Es Trenc the jet ski, the towed doughnut and the seabob all stay aboard. Art. 76.4.b is a prohibition, not a speed limit. Running guests to the beach in a motor tender is also caught by art. 76.4.c, which bans the landing and launching of motor boats.
Ses Salines d'Eivissa i Formentera
The natural park between Ibiza and Formentera contains the meadows declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1999 (Decreto 25/2018 preamble). Its management plan (PRUG, Decreto 132/2005) provides three buoy zones: Badia de s'Alga (s'Espalmador), the south part of Es Caló de s'Oli (Formentera) and Platja de ses Salines (Ibiza). In those zones skippers must moor to the buoys provided (CAIB page). Book through Ports IB (L4.2). A July 2026 press report put the three fields at 122 buoys in 2025 and named Ses Illetes (Formentera) as the most sensitive area.
The full PRUG text was not reviewed for this lesson. Check it for rules on toys, speed and landing before planning a day there.
The pattern
Natural parks and Natura 2000 plans can be stricter than the Posidonia decree (additional provision 2 of Decreto 25/2018), and they reach further than seagrass: toys, landing, parties, other habitats. Before you plan a day in any park, read its PORN or PRUG, or ask the park office.
TIP — Tell the guests the night before "Tomorrow is Es Trenc: beautiful beach, no jet skis, and we swim from the boat." Setting expectations early saves an argument at 11:00 with the toys half out of the garage.
