Working near other trades

STP-M1 · STP Shipyard Palma induction · STP-M1-A The ten lessons every worker completes before entering the yard.

Why some jobs can't happen at the same time, side by side.

Many companies, one yacht

Several companies often work on the same yacht. Some jobs are incompatible on the same day in the same area; others are allowed only with extra precautions.

A three-colour grid for six common jobs: welding and grinding, painting and varnishing, scaffolding and heavy lifts, pressure washing, electrical work, cleaning

Plain-language examples

  • Welding or grinding (sparks, heat) next to painting, varnishing or degreasing (flammable vapours): incompatible.
  • Anything that could drop heavy objects (scaffolding, lifting engines or masts) is incompatible with almost all other work nearby.
  • Pressure washing (wet conditions) and electrical work: only with coordination.

TIP — If in doubt Stop and ask the yacht's safety contact or ADSUM before you start.
