Medical
- A defibrillator (AED) is at Access Control, 24/7.
- Don't move a seriously injured person. Call 112.
- Report work accidents to STP's health and safety department and to ADSUM.
Fire
- Notify STP and the Port Authority: who you are, which vessel or premises, which area.
- Raise the alarm and get to safety, upwind of the fire.
- Only fight a small fire if it's safe to.
- If you're trapped, go to an opening, close the doors between you and the fire, and make yourself seen and heard.
- Move away and let the emergency teams work.
Fire cabinets and hydrants are around the yard: powder, foam and CO₂ extinguishers, a foam generator and hoses. Never use water or foam on live electrical equipment.
Evacuation
Switch off your equipment, leave calmly to a safe area, check that all your colleagues are with you, and report to the emergency commander.
Weather
- Stop work at height in heavy rain or wind over 50 km/h (about 27 knots), and remove anything that could fall.
- Secure anything the wind can move: covers, towers, ladders.
- In a heat wave: a hat, light clothing, water often; avoid alcohol and caffeine.
Electrocution
Cut the power first. If you can't, insulate yourself and separate the person with something that doesn't conduct. Expect them to fall when released.
Spills
Tell STP where, how much and what product. Identify the product before acting. Stop the source and stop it reaching the sea or drains. Warn people nearby if it's flammable.
Trapped by machinery
Hit the emergency stop and make sure it can't restart.
WARNING — Never on site Smoking in workplaces, on vessels or at refuelling points; open flames, fires or barbecues; any pyrotechnics; expired flares kept on board.
